Canon ! Shame on You

Filed under: Printer Information — crazydave @ 3:03 am

Canon probably makes the best inkjet printers in the world. They are leagues ahead of HP in photographic reproductions. The Best Canon Printer evermade was the Canon i9900 !

Hey Dave how can you say that ? Canon is still making printers !

That’s easy that is the last generation of printers that used the BCI-6 cartridges. Generics are available for under $2.50 a piece.

This printer is Canon’s masterpiece ! A truly fine printer. 13 X 19 wide format printer with a full 8 color toning ability.

With This printer Canon was poised to “take over” the entire high end consumer photo area.
but corporate greed lead to a new generation of printers that use the Canon CLI-8 cartridge that employes a 128 bit encryption technology chip that, in effect for the end user to buy “Canon only” cartridges.

Canon was on the verge of totally dominating the printer business. Now if you buy the Canon equivalent priter it utilizes a CLI-8 and PGI-5 cartridge.

Do not buy a Canon printer for that reason.

Google and Accquistion ! Ebay Or Other Entities ?

Filed under: Search Engines — crazydave @ 9:15 pm

Ebay is on the downside. Auctions were cool in 1998 - 2001 but today everything has been consolidated. Antique merchants have unified into selling units with aggressive prices with an array products and EBay is responsible. EBasy is an attractive M&A candidate. But the price would scare God !

Google Appears To Be Scheming !

Filed under: Search Engines — crazydave @ 9:09 pm

Ebay recently held their annual Ebay Live “get together” and Google showed up to do a protest. Now both companies are located around the “heart” of “fruit and nut land” so what you got was pretty weird. Google was somehow protesting the stifling of Google Checkout by Ebay on their auction listings. I think it was that and the deal that Ebay “cut” with Yahoo to integrate with Yahoo Stores. Plus Yahoo recently annouced pulling out of auctions and they will be presenting Ebay Auctions as an alternative to Yahoo Auctions.

Auctions can / must be very lucrative because you just have to look at EBay they are an elephant in that area. Yahoo is big in online stores. Ebay has tried twice on stores. In house with their EBay Stores and their purchase of Prostores.

Ebay , then I think did an egotistical boner move. Pulled all of their adwords account from Google. Google is like the T-Rex in search, Google is salivating at portions of Ebay’s online credit business (Paypal). Google is attracting savvy business people, and Google knows to grow business online retail is where it is at.

Weird wild prediction. Look for Ebay and Yahoo to copulate and be one. Look for Google to look elsewhere. Google could still get Ebay, they want the retail thingie, Ebay cut off their nose in spite of their face by running to Yahoo.

End result I would not want Yahoo stock, Ebay is a takeover target, Google wants Ebay period.

Further speculation:

Microsoft is needing a retail extension. Google and Bill Gates battle for Amazon ? Microsoft who has more cash than anyone makes jillions of Ebay employees millionaires?

The Ebay “pullout from adwords’ is a messenger for “fireworks in the near” future. Watch.

EBay, The Ultimate Hypocrisy

Filed under: Search Engines, Meanderings — crazydave @ 8:06 am

I know EBay is not a search engine but in a way they have such a search engine presence that they qualify for the topic.

Why is Ebay a hypocrisy you ask?

Good question and here is my answer. EBay claims to be a “venue” now I do not know exactly what a “venue” is but my definition is a venue is where people meet and agrreement is made that consumates a deal

Now I wil agree that Ebay is a venue. They get buyers, and sellers together. But as a venue
Ebay should not be so standish as tell it’s “Serf’s” (Ebay Sellers ) that they can gain anymore
than 1 sale.

I mean these people at Ebay are like Hitler. If you are paying as much as $ 1.20 to a site for a lead or whatever. THen that should be YOUR customer !

But Ebay , is “Hitler Zealous” I generated these “hit’s” for you and ,by Ebay rules you cannot use them, because I want to “monitor” your activity with “my customer”.

Excuse me, if I have a good product at a good price then they become my customer. You
make it hard for me to make a real customer.

Personally, I would rather see Google, with Google Checkout beat your behinds off.

Your alliance with Yahoo is a little late to stave off the “Google Avalanche”. At this point I feel that you (EBay) got to greedy, returned to much to the founders, and suffered from idiotism.

Good deal strarted, bad deal now !

Google Is Not All Evil !

Filed under: Search Engines — crazydave @ 1:43 am

Ok so they made promises to “Google Friends” like I was in 1998. Google had a supposed “Do no Evil” policy that as a Giant they have abandoned because of the dollar signs.

They do somethings really good. Recently it seems that Google is expanding their customer service. I was pleasantly surprised two days ago when a somehow blundered on a “chat live help link” and clicked on it. I was having problems logging on to “google base“. This “live chat” Google representative helped me to resolve my problem (gasp) yes a big corporation’s customer serivice actually worked, at least partially.

Google Checkout” is also appealing it’s free right now and the current projected rates beat the heck out of PayPal which reminds me of incorporating a rant about this greedy ” corporate entity ” Ebay .

Ebay will claim to be a “venue” in other words ” Ebay is a meeting of buyers and sellers” this is a good legal strategy if you practice such. Ebay however then dictates seller terms in such a way that are not a venue, if your are going to sell on Ebay then Ebay’s strict structure makes you a subcontractor.

Google because they are San Francisco based remains number 1 on my asshole internet companies.

Ebay now ranks number 2 but could quickly surpass Google in the near future.

My Internet asshole top 5 Companies:

1. Google For years got more oppressive and is still on a “correct english / grammar” kick
2. Ebay #2 And Climbing. “Yes’m boss’em, you got to raise my rent and not let me work fo myself on the side ?”
3. Microsoft You just can’t keep “greedy Bill” off of the list
4. Yahoo another ” politically incorrect” enforcer of politically correct doctrine but not as obnoxious as Ebay
5. Paypal maybe shouldn’t be included because they are owned by Ebay.

If you have other suggestions leave me email I’ll investigate and post my findings.
