Panasonic TH42PX60U Plasma TV Is A Real Winner !

I very seldom have a new product to review but recently I decided to splurge on a new big screen TV (at least it is a big screen to me).  I knew there was several different options including Plasma, LCD, DLP, and Sony's new VCD3 format.

Cutting through the jungle of specs in this area is a rather arduous job but after spending a great deal of time on the internet at consumer sites like Consumer Reports and forums that concentrate on consumer electronics I arrived at the conclusion that Plasma offered the best value for the money.

Plasma TV's probably do not have the longevity that LCD TV's and DLP TV's have but it's consumer electronics and from what I learned in 25 years is it will always cost less in the future.

The unit features a rather standard 1024 X 768 resolution and a superior 10000:1 contrast ratio.

The TV has unbelievable true to life color, and picture quality is excellent although I will confess to not being a videophile.  This HDTV fills the bill  although it may have some shortcomings with certain DVD/Tivo units.

You can check this unit out at Amazon .  I also believe that the prices for this unit will drop sharply after the New Year.  I   believe that sales will be down and that all retailers are going to be loaded with excess inventory after Christmas.

I also purchased the
Sony HT-DDW900 Complete 5.1-Channel DVD Home Theater System with HDMI Passthrough and a wall frame for the new tube but that's for another review
